Teresa & Mitch | Engagement |

Most would agree that it has been nice having such a mild winter so far, with temperatures in the 50’s in January. In the past few weeks, it has also made for some great photography opportunities. We had the pleasure of taking Mitch and Teresa’s engagement photos during this time.  We headed out to Kent Park as we wanted to capture some of the steel bridges and tall grass scenery. Along for the walk came Mya, the couple’s small dachshund. As we found out, she was very “verbal” when being tied up to watch Mitch and Teresa get their photos taken, but seemed pose perfectly when we later included her.

As many of you know, Mitch is a dedicated Hawkeye fan.  We felt that this couple needed to have some “Iowa” photos as part of their engagement photos. We are planning another shoot in the Spring, so be sure to check back!

Thank you Teresa, Mitch and Mya for letting Lower Left Side tag along and take these great photos of you guys!

Be sure to “like” and share this post with your friends and family!

Elizabeth & Allan | Engagement |

We had the pleasure of meeting and taking Elizabeth Wordehoff and Allan Mehlert’s engagement photos this past weekend. Elizabeth and I had been emailing one another about locations and possible props for this engagement session. Hay bails, fields and farm came up as possible locations. Allan had secured a perfect location for the shoot that encompassed all the desired elements. Elizabeth had sent me an email saying that they would also like a couple photos taken with their puppy and a tractor. Who would turn down that opportunity!?!!?

After meeting Daisy the puppy, Elizabeth, Allan and Elizabeth’s sister, we all headed out to the farm to start taking photographs. After several miles of back roads and gravel roads we arrived at a beautiful farm near La Porte City. We pulled off the dirt road into an empty field, and Allan unloaded the Farmall M tractor that had belonged to Allan’s Grandfather and Father. It is always an honor to be able to include a piece of family history into my photographs and with that, I try to capture the details that are remembered along the way.

It’s funny when you’re taking photos and you can just tell how in love a couple is. You see it in the eyes, the smiles, and the flirting. It just makes you smile!

Eloise | 1 Year |

Tina, Wesley and I spent Saturday afternoon celebrating Eloise Guhl’s 1st birthday, along with her family and friends in Muscatine. The house was decked out with amazing decorations, each detail thought out and coordinated with the rest to create a wonderful “I Scream for Ice Cream” birthday party.  From purple streamers hung from the ceiling, to striped straws for the drinks, to a red and white filled Oreo centerpiece; every item added to the special day.  Eloise was a perfect hostess, coming to the door to greet all the guests and walking around to check out what everyone was doing. With a little help from her mom, Amy, she was able to unwrap all her gifts. And although she wasn’t too excited about the clothes she got, she was especially enthused with a giant gumball machine from her “Aunt” Leann. After we all enjoyed the gift openings and ice cream social, it was time for Eloise to “devour” her first cake. The anticipation was high as the cake was placed in front of her. She wasn’t sure what to do with it at first, but slowly enjoyed picking at the sprinkles one by one. Amy finally had to coach her into “going all in” with her hands. It was a blast to see her reaction to the globs of frosting stuck to her hands while the adults kept encouraging her to make a mess. As you’ll see the dog also enjoyed the cake.

Share the goodness with your friends on Facebook and other social sites!
